Barn Conversion & New Build Houses, Northumberland

This sensitive site is located on a historic farm steading within the Hadrian’s Wall Buffer Zone, to the north of the line of Hadrian’s Wall and its associated features. Planning approval was granted to replace the existing modern sheds with two new build dwelling units. The massing of the proposed dwellings was developed following analysis of the existing farm stead layout including the axis, interlocking nature, and inner courtyards of the existing buildings, also picking up on the scale and form of historic fabric. The proposals created a sympathetic scheme which will enhance the site and setting of Hadrian’s Wall.
